Navigation Officer Cadet

The life of a navigation officer cadet or deck cadet is adventurous and rewarding. When in charge of the navigational watch one must undertake responsibilities while also being a trustworthy individual. It is undoubtedly the ideal learning experience in seafaring and marine engineering in Sri Lanka, which is an essential step in a cadet’s journey towards becoming a Ship’s Captain.

In addition to the prospect of adventure at sea, a navigation officer cadet will receive an attractive tax-free remuneration in US dollars. As work is assigned on a contractual basis, cadets taking seaman courses can also maintain a healthy work-life balance while planning a productive retirement.


Your Journey

  • Phase l - Residential – Shore Based Training (06 months)
  • Phase ll - On Board Training (12 months)
  • Phase lll - Preparatory Course for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch – Class III (06 months)


Requirement

To fulfil your dream of becoming a Navigation Officer Cadet, with a thorough knowledge of marine engineering, you must meet these basic entry requirements to follow our seaman courses in Sri Lanka:

  • GCE O/L in 6 subjects, including a credit pass for English
  • GCE A/L in the streams of Maths (with 02 passes) or Bio Science (with 02 passes). It is essential to have passed Physics or Combined Maths OR "S" pass for Engineering Technology & One other “S” pass or “S” pass for Bio Technology & “S” pass for science for technology or “S” pass Science for Technology & One other “S” pass
  • Be between 18 to 24 years of age
  • Mental and physical fitness
  • 6/6 vision and colour vision
