Basic Refresher & Updating Course (R/Basic)

Overview

Basic Refresher & Updating Course consists of the following 4 training programmes:

  • Refresher and updating for proficiency in fire prevention and fire fighting
  • This course covers the mandatory training requirements for the issue of a certificate of Refresher and Updating for Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting as set out in Regulation VI/1 Section A-VI/1 Para 3, Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW ’78, as amended.
  • Refresher and updating for proficiency in elementary first aid
  • This course covers the mandatory training requirements for the issue of a certificate of Refresher and Updating for Proficiency in Elementary First Aid as set out in Regulation VI/1 Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW ’78, as amended.
  • Refresher and updating for proficiency
  • This course covers the mandatory minimum basic safety training requirements for the issue of a certificate of Refresher and Updating for Proficiency in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities as set out in Regulation VI/1 Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-4 of the STCW ’78, as amended.
  • Refresher and updating for proficiency in personal survival techniques
  • This course covers the mandatory training requirements for the issue of a certificate of Refresher and Updating for Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques as set out in Regulation VI/1 Section A-VI/1 Para 3, Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW ’78, as amended.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 30 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors with qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to all seafarers who have followed the four basic STCW safety courses & hold certificate of proficiency for the basic training and having approved minimum total seagoing service of 3 months during the preceding 5 years. 

All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health and have valid medical certificate issued in accordance with provisions of STCW Reg.I/9 and section A-I/9.
