Master of Public Administration in Education Management

Course Overview

The PIM that pioneered the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme three decades ago, has endowed to the country over three thousand business leaders. Furthering the commitment of the PIM to raise the country’s education portfolio to greater heights the PIM joined hands with the Ministry of Education to commence another postgraduate programme, MPA in Education Management (MPA-EM).

In fact, the PIM MPA-EM is focused on bringing the desired change by transforming our school principals and education/teacher education administrators into full-fledged professionals. Its indirect impact to the country is immense. In pursuing the continuity of this specialised programme, MPA-EM, we are planning to have series of batches from the same portfolio.

This full-time course has been tailor-made to specifically enhance the career of above mentioned education officers.

The total-spread of the programme is one year. Organized into course-wise delivery during this one-year period, the programme offers approximately 300 classroom interactive-hours and over 30 hours of faculty consultation leading to skills development, directed study, residential workshops, and ultimately resulting in a practically adoptable Guided Independent Study. Since the degree requirements for group work, practical assignments, guided independent study as well as examinations are comprehensive, the course demands intense-concentration and commitment on the part of students.

MPA in Education Management Learning Goals

PIM MPA-EM graduates of PIM will be able to:

1. Recognize the key knowledge, skills, and attitudes at local and global levels, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of theoretical knowledge and critical awareness of current issues in education management and be able to apply techniques relevant to professional practice.
2. Reflect with critical and logical thinking and analysis, and be able to deal with complex issues in education management systematically and creatively, and plan and implement required tasks at professional level to solve such issues and further enhance the education system.
3. Reach relevant public and private organisations locally and globally, through networking and team participation, and maintain relationships, and communicate decisions related to education management clearly to others.
4. Realize the importance of economic and ecological concerns and the humane aspects in the sphere of education management, demonstrate self-direction and originality in tackling and solving problems and be able to make sound judgments.
5. Reinforce integrity and ethics in all activities and decision making, being conscious of transferring such values to the next generation
