Fish harvest Technician is very crucial component for linking the ground level components with marine environment. Fish Harvest Technician engages with commercial fishing catches and determines compliance with laws and regulations locally and internationally. As a skipper’s assistant, who must be familiar with navigation requirements and the operation of all electronic equipment. Usually duty shifts, called watches, maintain log book reporting relevant information usually, is to direct the fishing operations and sailing responsibilities of the deckhands, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel and the gathering, preservation, stowing, and unloading of the catch by ensuring the stability of the vessel.
As a member of deckhands also must ensure that decks are always clear and clean and that the vessel’s engines and equipment are kept in good working order. Upon return to harbor/port, they secure the vessel’s lines to and from the docks and other vessels.
This course is carried out under the accreditation of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and conducted in line with the National Competency Standards (NCS).
After completing the course, you will be able to find a job as a Fish Harvest Technician (as a crew member) in fishing vessels in the national and international job market.
