Course Description

The program comprises subjects from both the education and English language fields. The integrated approach of the curriculum is designed to improve students’ knowledge, skills and attitude so as to enable him/her to stimulate pupils’ intellectual interest in English language learning and acquisition and guide them towards academic success in school. This qualification produces graduates that are Education Practitioners who have broad knowledge with practical skills capable of using appropriate numerical techniques and digital technologies in educational settings. Further, Education Practitioners uphold professional and ethical practices in all educational settings.

Faculty of Education and Open University of Malaysia, offer this degree course to cater to the needs of teachers of English as a Second Language in the system. The Bachelor of Education in TESL degree gives you a solid foundation to take your career just about anywhere. This degree is approved and recognized by University Grants Commission and MQA (Malaysian Qualification Authority). This degree will help the student to be employed as teachers/lecturers in any commonwealth country.

Entry Requirements

• Passed Ordinary Level (Local/London) with 5 passes or equivalent qualification certificate with an average of 50% (CGPA 2.00); AND
• Passed Advanced Level (Local/London), with 3 passes or equivalent qualification with an average of 50% (CGPA 2.00); OR
• Passed a recognized Diploma/Teaching certificate from teacher training college; OR
• Other recognized equivalent qualifications.
