Japan Tech

The Automobile Engineering Training Institute (AETI), commonly known as "Japan Tech," is a premier institution in Sri Lanka specializing in automobile engineering education. Established in November 1989 with assistance from the Japanese government, AETI operates under the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs.


AETI offers a variety of full-time courses designed to equip students with practical skills in the automotive industry. The courses typically range from 1½ to 3 years in duration and are open to individuals who have completed Grade 8 or the GCE O/L examination.


Here are some of the courses offered at AETI:

Automobile Mechanic / Technician

This course trains students in vehicle maintenance and repair, covering both mechanical and electronic systems.


Automobile Electrician

Focuses on the electrical aspects of vehicles, including wiring, diagnostics, and repair of electrical components.


Machinist / CNC

Provides training in machining techniques and the operation of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines used in manufacturing.


Automobile A/C Mechanic

Specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of vehicle air conditioning systems.


Automobile Tinker

Focuses on bodywork repairs, including denting and structural adjustments to vehicle frames.


Automobile Painter

Covers techniques in painting and finishing vehicle surfaces to industry standards.
